I am developing an APP using RealBasic. I have all authentication methods checked in "Advanced Options" under the "Security Policy" tab.

Here is what I am wondering. ..

When I set the security policy to "No Restrictions" I can get my app to run just fine and send mail, etc... What I am wondering is what are the security repercussions of doing this ?

I do not have a SecureSMTP socket available in the app that I am using and thus figured I cannot set the security policy to "Require Secure Authentication" because then I get a "unknown authentication method" error.

In my "SMTP Server"delivery options, I have only relay mail for Users authenticated through SMTP for outgoing mail.

I really just want to know if there are any considerations for possible SPAM attacks, mail client incompatabilities for my LAN users.

TIA

Jeff.
