how would I go about configuring dns on winroute when the host machine is configured for dns. What Id like to do is have winroute to handle the dns for my internal domain and forward requests for internet connectivity. This is an optimum solution to get the most out of the caching correct or is it not a of any benefit where the dns is being handled on the host machine or the winroute?

This is very easy. Just go to the DNS setup of KWF and configure it as you want (refer to the manual for descriptions of options).

Lastly, make sure your LAN-hosts are configured to use the KWF as DNS server.
