I'm getting messages in the error log like this:

[19/Jan/2007 12:12:01] SPFChecker.cpp: Error when parsing SPF TXT record for domain: blah.com, envelope-from=blah<.a.t.>blah.com, message: Invalid character found near "all" in "~all."

I verified that the domain in question has an incorrectly-formatted SPF record. Does Kerio treat a malformed record like a nonexistent record, or does it treat it like an "SPF fail"?

This is important, because I want to start blocking messages that fail an SPF check, but I don't want to accidentally block legitimate domains that have a nonexistent or a malformed SPF record.

Kerio MailServer treats such SPF record as an invalid. SPF return code is PermError. SPF check does not fail because it is not possible to perform it. In other words, KMS will ignore such record (as nonexistent) and log only the warning.

Is this still the case? I am only logging SPF issues right now, not blocking messages.

I see a lot of SPF errors for invalid SPF records. If I start blocking messages based on SPF records, do those messages get rejected or does the error just get logged?
