OK, you guys were expecting this I'm sure. KOC 6.3.1 won't install on a Vista machine with Office 2003 SP2. Personally I think it will run with no problems, but the install will not allow it to even try. I can't even set the compatibility to Windows XP sp2 for the install, as it still doesn't accept the version and won't continue the install. When is this going to be remedied? Vista is public now, so delays are no longer easily accepted.

Is this really true? I would have expected the KOC to have problems with Outlook 2007 (on Windows XP and Vista), but not with Outlook 2003. Is this really dependant on th OS? Strange.

I think the issue is the installer being coded too restrictively. I have the same problem with the Active Directory UI extensions not installing on admin PCs with Active Directory Users and Computers installed because it only looks for a domain controller. This started when they went to the MSI installers.

Scott, you are correct. I had a long talk on the phone with Kerio on this and they are actively attempting to fix the problem. I'd hope they would have simple removed the "restriction" and allowed 6.3.1 to install so it could be fixed quickly. But instead they have a new version with more features due very soon, including both Vista and Office 2007 support. Of course I was not given any dates, but I was told it would be soon. I'll be nice to Kerio and let them talk about the new features, but the are very nice. It's going to be a good year for Kerio...

This is excellent news, I hope they get the new plugin released ASAP. I've shown KMS to 2 clients and they both bought licenses based on the webmail alone.

The Kerio forums are not technical support, what gave you that idea? If you require technical support with the product, you need to submit a support ticket or call us.

And the answer means: sorry, we working on it.

Again: there is no solution for the problems until now.

this is not acceptable, 2 weeks and nothing is happend, for a "simple" installer problem.

I do not want a new KOC Version, i want a installable current version.

Kerio Mailserver is not "fun" application, it´s used in business environments. We are in "line of fire", our customers call US in case of this BUG´S.

We are working on support for the Vista operating system. There is no bug, the current installer was simply not designed to work on a Vista system. We will have a new version soon that will support Vista.

You do know Vista has been out for quite a while, it's not like it was just released. It was just released to the general public, but for developemental work it's been out over 1 year. In all that time you didn't have team working on coding for vista? That's not very business smart, you won't gain any fans with that backward thinking.

Wow... Alot of people have been very rude here. I'm not trying to start a flame-war or anything, but I am curious to know why all of these people who are coming with "lit torches and pitchforks", didn't do any testing with the KOC...

I am currently testing Office 2007 and I know that the KOC does not currently support Outlook '07. (Part of the reason we did not deploy the office suite yet.)

It seems that these people are badgering Kerio when they should have taken a more reserved approach. We all try to be as cutting edge as possible, but sometime time and money are a factor. Patience people...

Hmm... some reading materials...(System Requirements, as copied from kerio.com)

CLIENTS

Groupware clients
Kerio Outlook Connector will work only with the following Microsoft Outlook clients:

Microsoft Outlook 2003 (SP2)*
Microsoft Outlook XP (SP3)*
Microsoft Outlook 2000 (SP3)*

Check for Microsoft Office Updates

Microsoft Entourage does not require any additional software to be installed on the client. The following versions of Entourage are supported:

Microsoft Entourage X**
Microsoft Entourage 2004 SP2 (11.2.3)**

*) Microsoft Outlook must run on Windows 2000 (SP4) Professional, Windows XP (SP2 or SP1) or Windows Server 2003 (SP1). Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher must be present.
**) Microsoft Entourage must run on Mac OS X 10.3.9 or 10.4.

As can be seen, Vista is not listed as a supported OS, nor is Office 2007 listed as a supported client platform... and therefore a support ticket should be filled out, either that or be patient and wait for the software to be developed.

I think that Kerio is doing a fantastic job, and should keep up the great work!

Ryan,

Kerio is not alone in missing the boat on the 2007 products, Vista or Office. Reading the mis-steps from Quicken is quite amusing. Please take a walk down Wall Street sometime and ask what complacency does to a business. Many ex-CEO's could tell you a lot about that problem.

Kerio is making some great strides this year from what I understand, and patience will pay off. But, asking for patience from a business that pushes the envelope to stay alive, and yes there are as many that push the top as those who drag the bottom, is impossible. I have taken the waiting approach, due to many factors. Asking others to do the same is not proper, and Kerio recognizes that, but needs to improve on it's communication toward that end.
