In the clamav site there is a new 0.90 release of antivirus, and the windows porting is hardly changed !! It needs a MS .net framework and it's compiled with visual studio, no more need the CGYWIN support.

BUT !! This is compatible/supported by the actual KMS release ??????

0.90.1 works fine with OS X / KMS.

I installed the SOSDG ClamAV 0.90-1 (http://www.sosdg.org/clamav-win32). Strangely enough, internally this does not seem to be 0.90-1. For example, the clamd deamon file is dated feb. 2007, but the deamon itself reports version dated november 2006. Also, the ClamAV websites states a lot of changes, one of which is a changed conf.file format. But the package from SOSDG still uses (and installs) the old conf-format. I checked all this on a fresh system.

And there are more peculiarities. I got this mail from ClamAV announcing the release last Wednesday:
Quote:

Hello all,

ClamAV/SOSDG 0.90.1-1 is now available from our website:

http://www.sosdg.org/clamav-win32

Remember that mirrors take a while to update.

If you have any problems, please make sure you do not have a stray
cygclamav-1.dll lying around (there was a recent API change so the main
DLL is now cygclamav-2.dll).

Let me know if you have any problems.

They warn about the cygclamav-1.dll being changed to cygclamav-2.dll. But still the cygclamav-1.dll is included in teh package and not v2.

Nonetheless, is is running fine.

Anybody else such experiences?

Ok ! But why the www.clamav.com site don't have no more the link to the http://www.sosdg.org ?
And the only one porting mentioned is http://w32.clamav.net maintained by Nigel Horne .
And Kerio, which porting will support in the future for Win32 system ?

I received some more messages from the ClamAV/SOSDG mailing list. Perhaps these are of interest to you readers of this topic.

On 9th of March:
Quote:

Hello all,

I've made ClamAV/SOSDG 0.90.1-2 for Windows available from:

http://www.sosdg.org/clamav-win32

Please remember that it takes time for all the mirrors to update
completely with this new version.

Basically, this version corrects some build problems and incorrect
linkage to cygclamav1.dll by clamd.

And on the 14th of March:
Quote:

Hello all,

With help from various people, I've got a new build of ClamAV/SOSDG For
Windows 0.90.1 available - release 3 fixes bugs in -1 and -2 that people
reported. I believe the problem was relating to fixes once needed in
pre-0.90.1 versions of ClamAV.

Direct download:

Once again, thanks to everyone who provided feedback.
