Anyone know if Entourage's contact categories are maintained when Kerio is used as a quasi-Exchange server? I'm talking about the shared/groupware contacts that Kerio supposedly allows.

Thanks (and sorry about all the posts--I'm trying to decide if I should take the plunge.)

I am using Entourage and categories are not synced over.
Notes and Tasks aren't synced either.
But I am afraid that is something MS and not Kerio has to take care of.
I am using the latest Entourage 2004 Version.

Well that kind of stinks. I'm mainly interested in Kerio for its groupware potential, but if it doesn't allow categories in its shared contacts that's upsetting.

Categories, Tasks and Notes are not synchronized because it is not supported in Entourage. Entourage does not do that even with Exchange. It's not related to Kerio.

I'm starting to use Outlook 2007 via Parallels on 6.4b3. Entourage does some thing really well, however overall not syncing categories stinks. Maybe Entourage 2008 will support this.

So this is an Entourage limitation and not Kerio? I'm wondering, in an Exchange server setup whether contact categories are shared and sync'd. I don't use PCs so I just don't know the answer.

Okay -- I've got KMS running and have two Entourage clients up and sending/receiving mail, BUT I can't yet figure out how to share contacts between them.

Do I setup an LDAP account in Tools/Accounts/Exchange/Advanced and in Tools/Accounts/Directory Service? What is the difference? I've set up both, but there is no way to add contacts to them--the "add" button is grayed out.

Both the Kerio User and Admin manual say nothing about HOW to share contacts, only that it allows sharing. I've beat my head against this for hours. No joy.

Can someone please give me some idea how to go about this?

Thanks!

You have to setup sharing in webmail first, then the contacts will be shared in Entourage. Has nothing to do with LDAP.

We use Entourage for sharing contacts and schedules and it does very well within its limitations.
For us it is no problem, that categories aren't synced.
We are starting to use windows mobile devices and the integration, thanks to directpush works very well.
As mentioned above you should set up the initial sharing in webmail.
The builtin functions in Entourage are not supported.
For detailed infos pls read http://www.kerio.com/manual/kmsug/en/ch07s05.html
