Hi everyone. I just migrated from Exchange to Kerio yesterday and everything is well except for one thing..

McAfee doesn't seem to be updating. The error log says:

[28/Mar/2007 13:08:07] AvPlugin.cpp: Antivirus Server error(0): Downloaded file update.ini is corrupted or missing

The mailserver is running on Windows XP and I had McAfee Virusscan Enterprise 8.5 running on the machine as well. I thought this might cause this error, so I uninstalled it, but still no luck. My antivirus definition files are 344 days old now, so I hope I can get this fixed soon.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks.

In the KMS Admin, on the Anti-Virus tab, what does it say? When was the last download attempt? It needs to find and update2.ini and the corresponding .zip file on the Kerio site.

Make sure no other anti virus product is scanning the kerio directory. Rename the mcafee folder in C:\Program Files\kerio\mailserver, run the kerio mail server installer and choose the repair option.

In the Admin console -> Antivirus, it says:
[checked] Use integrated McAfee antivirus engine
[unchecked] Use external antivirus

[checked] Check for updates every 12 hours
Current virus database is 244 days, 22 hour, 3 minutes old
Virus database version 4742_
Scanning engine version 5.1.00

I have just done what you suggested but it didn't help.

Note that when I click 'update now' in the admin console antivirus section, I receive either the error mentioned in my first post, or I get "The current version is up-to-date", which is clearly not the case.

Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Yes, I do have a suggestion. Do not use cracks and buy a license.

Please note your IP address has been logged for further investigation.

I am currently just trying out the product for a limited amount of time on my test server and for this purpose (me as a single user and just testing) I do not plan on buying a license. If I decide to implement this product for my clients, I will definitely purchase the required licenses for them through my reseller.

No need to 'investigate' my IP address. I would be happy to provide you with my contact info so you can get in touch. :)

For how long have you installed KMS? If it is really a licensing issue then you should see it on the initial screen of the Administrator. I believe that McAfee should work for 30 days.

Kerio MailServer is fully functional in trial mode for 30 days after first installation. You can also contact our local partner or us if you need a trial license.
No cracking please. It does not look good for our product when someone is trying to solve "problem" in product intentionally damaged by crack.

Thanks Pavel, I will contact them first thing tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience, by the way. Please let me know if you need any further info.
