Stupid oversight on my part - I only had one DNS address configured in the adapter settings of my mailserver. Incidentally, our ISP had recently reconfigured their network and assigned new DNS addresses. Yesterday, the DNS address (now, old) on the mailserver was taken offline by the ISP. Hence, my problem:

Antispam DNS checks are enabled in KMS. So all inbound SMTP requires DNS queries, which were failing because of the discontinued DNS server. However, these messages were not being returned (I confirmed this).

I fixed the DNS issue today and hoped that all previously received email was somehow queued on the server and would be checked and distributed. While I did notice some old-dated email in some user inboxes; It appears incomplete - none of my test messages were returned or delivered.

Are some of the old messages stuck in KMS? If so, any way to retrieve and restore to user inboxes?

Thanks.

No KMS issue afterall. It turned out that our backup (ISP mail server) has been resending all save e-mail in small bits at a time over long intervals.
