Just noticed that there has been a 20% increase in size of the Linux RPM file compared to 6.3.1 - up to 49MB now.

The developers have obviously been busy, but I can't help feeling that some people will be disappointed in the lack of certain features.

Hopefully now that there is full Vista/2007 support, which for me was a big requirement, the developers will be able to use this platform as a springboard to providing some of the other 'must haves' - you know the ones I mean ;-)

I'm very curious (and eager) to hear how testing is going so far. Specifically, the things that I'm curious about are:
* Outlook 2007 Support - Does it work? Performance?
* OTA Sync - As I recall, there were some issues with the direct push that was basically eating batteries. Is this fixed? Is the OTA sync with Windows Mobile devices stable?
* Overall Performance / Stability - Equal to, less than or greater than v6.3.x?

The lack of any 'this sucks' type messages in the forums is encouraging (I've noted that those types of messages seem to get posted far quicker than 'this is awesome' type messages).

Yes, it has been eerily quiet on the 6.4 thread.
I was quick to install the 6.3 variant that killed webmail on Mac OS X (which worked on my test server as I was doing a clean install there), so I chose the "let everyone else suffer first" approach.
Why won't you all suffer for me? :-)

Also eager,
Lyle Millander

I'm backing up my 6.3 install now getting ready to bit the bullet. The flack that I'm getting for continually promising Outlook 2007 support 'shortly' will either be a) stopped or b) replaced with 'my email doesn't work' flack by close of business today. Wish me luck.

Hey cybertechcafe,

As requested, "Good luck!"

Although I'm confident you won't have any major problems, it doesn't hurt to install 6.4 over your backup on a test server first. But, hey, it's only a job, right? :-)

All the best,
Lyle

6.4.0 on OS X 10.4.7 (server) has been humming along without issue since release. No problems that I've noticed. Users use mainly Entourage (exchange mode), Webmail and Outlook (POP) and I've had no feedback from them - which means it works.

Well, I've been deployed for 3 days this morning and testing on a seperate server since the first beta was releaced. A few notes:

-ActiveSync was a disaster for 6.4 beta servers. I'm running a few users on 700w/700wx's on Verizon Wireless and I had nothing but issues with the beta. My bug reports were answered by a very nice guy and when Beta 2 came out they said the bug fixes would be included in the next releace...this turned out to be GM.

My usage has been limited with 6.4 to give you a full evaluation with activesync but things seem to be working. yes, i still have issues where I have zero emails and then finally go get 7. Sometimes they come across like they should, sometimes they don't. The issue that active sync was pulling down events that didn't even exist looks like it is fixed.

-2007/Vista KOC preformance: SLOW!!! Yes, it works but jeeze the preformance is awful right now. I reported a bug and they were able to reproduce it as well but I don't think it made the GM master of 6.4

-Server itself: no issues...webmail is fine however we primarily are a ActiveSync/KOC deployment

-iSync Connector: works just as advertised..no bugs as far as i can tell...may be the best client Kerio has programmed yet given the sorry state of affairs that the KOC is.

final recommendations: if you have a valid subscription i'd go ahead and do the update. there is nothing preventing anything from working and they did make a lot of SUBSTANTIAL improvments...KOC has a lot of work to go..if we can finally get offline support/cache support/and some bug fixes in the KOC Kerio is finally going to have a really great product on their hands...6.4 is 80% there from the full package

so go ahead, test, but no show stoppers at all here!

My 2 cents:

- upgraded from 6.3.1 to 6.4.0 RC1 and since 2 days 6.4.0
- linux server running opensuse 10.2 x64 (I know, non supported but running very smoothly) with 2.5GB mem and RAID1 SATA.
- 40 users are still on Outlook 2003 with IMAP, 6 with KOC and some POP3 (laptop: welcome back offline mode) and webmail
- 2 users (me and my boss) use a Mac with iSyncConnector (wow!) and Mail.app IMAP
- server is sleeping, is using max. 5% CPU

Just finished the upgrade and got KOC installed. Below are the details:

Server:
CentOS v4.4
Intel Celeron 3.33GHz
1GB DDR2 RAM
2 x 120GB 7200RPM EIDE HD (RAID1)
Load Average 0.01,0.04,0.01

Upgrade (rpm -Uvh <file>) took about 30 seconds.
I've noted no discernible difference in webmail (Windows Vista + FireFox v2.0.0.3). The Kerio Admin tool does work with Vista now (thank you!!). The KOC does seem painfully slow, but it does seem to work with Office [Outlook] 2007.

There seems to be a problem concerning http or https connections.

We use Entourage 11.3.3 and 11.3.5 and in the situation where someone quits and restarts Entourage it cannot reconnect before the services for http or https insinde KMS 6.4 are restarted.
Sometimes restarting the services does not help and the services have to be quit and then started again.
Another thing that happened to us independently from Entourage was that connecting via Safari or Camino failed.
The message inside Kerio was that the amount of connections exceeded the settings inside the http service which was in fact wrong.
A quit and start of the service brought back the http service to work.
Did anyone experience similar problems?
Here is an excerpt of the http debug log:
[18/May/2007 08:40:50][6740] {https} HTTP connection from 10.0.0.63:59792 started

[18/May/2007 08:40:50][6740] {https} PROPFIND request for URI /exchange/oliver.kess/

[18/May/2007 08:40:50][6740] {https} User-Agent header: Entourage/11.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; PPC Mac OS X 10.4.9; Tasman 1.0)

[18/May/2007 08:40:50][6740] {webdav} PROPFIND /exchange/oliver.kess/ received from remote host='10.0.0.63', user-agent='Entourage/11.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; PPC Mac OS X 10.4.9; Tasman 1.0)'

[18/May/2007 08:40:50][6740] {https} Response: HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized

[18/May/2007 08:40:50][6740] {https} Request finished in 0.01 s, received 378 bytes, sent 459 bytes

It states that my access is unauthorized.... hmm....
I have to admit that this is the first time since version 5.x that I am reporting a serious problem after an update...
regards
Oliver

Hi Oliver,

You should definitely submit a support ticket on this one.

Is it safe to assume that your server is also running a recent version of OS X? Open Directory or built-in Kerio users?
Have you tried setting Entourage to connect via a non-SSL connection (make sure regular http is running and on the correct port)? If that works, it may shed some light on where to look next (https service, SSL certificate).

The release notes mention a change in SSL that allows KMS to support intermediate certificates. Are you running a self-signed cert? Perhaps assigning and deploying a fresh cert...

Regardless, please share your continued experiences here.

Good luck,
Lyle
