I have been getting a lot of inquiries lately regarding whether or not KMS will provide instant messaging. To sum up, most small businesses using Exchange are on a small business server that includes Sharepoint and Windows Messenger. Others are comparing KMS to Zimbra which includes an online documents folder. Some clients have told me they felt some of these other applications offered more collaboration than KMS. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this topic? I would like to see an instant messaging solution made available through KMS that create instant messaging groups relevant to domain names, sort of how the shared folders are assigned to each domain, rather than globally. I know that other people have asked for an online file storage solution in the past, but I haven't seen any recent comments on this either. I know that Kerio has had their hands full with the Vista and Outlook 2007, but I think it is time to add some additional functionality to keep KMS on top. Comments?

I too am very interested in a instant messaging program for my company. As of now, we have given in to using other means of instant messanging; which needless to say I am unhappy about. Knowing that the messaging is not flowing through my own server is a little heart breaking, and does not make me feel warm and fuzzy inside.....Kerio, please take this seriously, and look to develope a integrated messaging program!!!

Put my vote in for instant messaging! This is something I use every day with a small handful of co-workers, but would like to use securely company-wide--without having to separately manage users using another service.

Any plans for this Kerio?

Me too! Had it requested since I saw Lotus Notes 7 with it. Think kerio doesn;t has plans for this yet because they have a lot of to do. Kc 7 is has having performance difficulties also Office 2010 is released.

It would be nice to have Instant Messaging configured with Kerio Connect, our old groupware suite did this, a little company called Bynari, but they just integrated the OpenFire server with their products. After we migrated to Kerio, we obviously lost the IM server that came with it, so we setup a separate OpenFire IM server and it works great. It integrates with Active Directory fairly painlessly (Although be aware you may experience a little pain here, I did). Give it a try, at least until Kerio will hopefully integrate an IM solution in the future some time.
