I've switched over to Vista (64bit) yesterday and installed VPN 6.3.1 build 2906 client on it. I'm using it to access internet over the local WiFI network, and I'm not administrator of the WinRoute Firewall. Unfortunately, the administrator isn't available (vacation) to consult him.

The problem: client connects to the WRF, and everything seems to work fine to that point, but I can't access anything beyond it. I try to ping www.google.com, and it resolves the name, gives the IP, but it can't ping - it times out.

Funny thing is that it worked fine yesterday, but this morning after I tried to connect it didn't work.

I would be grateful if someone listed a few common problems I could look into, or at least politely email the admin about them.

Thank you.

It's turtles all the way down.

So far, I've discovered Vista wasn't picking up routes properly from VPN client, and that you had to flush them (from CMD promt you type in "route -f") but that would cause dropping of all routes, and (in my case) network interface wouldn't reinitialize properly, so a reboot was required. But after that it would work decently, at least for now.

It's turtles all the way down.
