I spent quite a bit of time looking for an Exchange alternative, and finally settled on Kerio. One week in, I'm confident that Kerio was the right choice.

The administration interface is simple to use, fast and powerful. So far the mail server is very stable, and the features I'm using all work, as documented.

I've had the chance to call technical support once, and they were both fast and friendly.

The user and server files are in XML format. Easy to edit, friendly to put into source control or to diff. Fantastic!

In terms of features, I have some questions:

- Is kerio going to attempt to speed up KOC? it's sooooo slooooow.
- Could a "password expiry" option be added, to force users to change their password after a period of time?
- Having to restart the mail server after removing an account, in order to decrease the active mailbox count, is a PIA. Could that be fixed?
- I'd like to be able to set up a scheduled task to empty a mailbox, say after a certain number of messages, or a certain period of time. This is useful for logs coming in by email from other network services. Could that be added as a server feature?
- I've not been able to figure out how to move a user account from one domain to another. Is there a simple way to do that via the admin console?
- can you make it serve chocolate cookies? low fat please?

We've been on Kerio for a little over a year. We have about 700 users. It is a very stable platform that is easy to administer. Like you we were looking for exchange alternatives. I wish we had gone to exchange, only so that i could add that to my resume Smile...but couldn't justify spending upwards of 50k for our email platform. So far i'm pleased with the product. But there are quite a few enhancements they could make (and i think they will with time).

Also, the performance of kerio's outlook connector will greatly increase once they added offline caching..which is suppose to be coming out in October. However, they have been promising offline caching for several years...so we'll see.

There is no possibility to move a user directly in the GUI.

I would create the user in the new domain and then delete the user in the old domain. You are then asked if you want to move the messages to another user.

That's a decent work-around. Thanks.
