I have a number of users who pick up their mail with smartphones. Kerio works very, very well for this, since it's so easy to deploy imaps and ldaps.

One issue those users run up against is that the telco overbills them very heavily for bandwidth beyond the plan limit. Would it be possible to add a feature to Kerio to account for their bandwidth usage on a per-month basis, and send an email to the account when a given threshold is reached?

I'm curious as to how this would work with Kerio? I assume the user could still browse the internet and use other network connections with the PDA/Smartphone, which would continue to rack up the telco charges?

I like the suggestion, but just don't see how it could work.

You're right that it couldn't account for web traffic. However there are users that wouldn't use web traffic, other than imaps and ldaps, so for those users it would be able to account for the "email" and "directory service" traffic.
