Hey guys,

I was hoping someone could help me with an issue I have with my Domain Controller. I started a new job that uses Kerio (I came from an Exchange background) and I am trying to troubleshoot an issue I have noticed on our Domain Controller everytime it is re-booted. It takes ~15 minutes to boot up. Most of this time is spent looking at a window that reads, 'Installing managed software Kerio Outlook Connector'. It does it EVERYTIME I reboot it!

Our DC is running Windows 2000 and the server running Kerio (it runs on its own server) has Server 2003.

Anyone have any ideas why this occurs? Does it take that long for your servers to reboot?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!

Thanks,

Andy

It sounds like the Kerio Outlook Connector was deployed to that machine, and possibly shouldn't have been. I've seen things like that happen when software is deployed from a domain wide GP, instead of one that only affects PCs, or groups of PCs, so software intended for PCs also tries to install on the servers.

Check the event logs on that machine. The logs should shed some light on things, like entries saying the install failed, etc. It may be that the KOC is trying to install, but the server doesn't meet requirements (like Outlook being installed), and is failing the install routine. That could cause it to hang during the install, and try again every time the machine is booted.
