Hi, I just got a call from a user, said she had just changed her name, now she wan't to change her username to match this change.

As far as I can see there is no way to change the username of an account, so how is this best done?

I was thinking along the line creating a new account, removing her old, and using her new account as store for her old email.

Would that be a thinkable solution? Or is there a better one?

Gratefull for any help!

IIRC --

1. Create a new account with the changed name

2. Shutdown the mail server

3. In the mail store, find the folder for the user's mail .\kerio\mail\domain.name\<username>. Rename the folder to the new name

4. restart the server

5. delete the old account

6. create an alias to the new account with the old account's name

Hm, one odd thing, the user is still sending e-mail from her old adress with her old name. Where does one change theese settings? Must have come with her old mailbox in some way...

As I 'grep' through the users files I find her old name in two files:

settings.usr
sub.fld

can I just delete or change them to get the name for the user right?

You should only have to make the change to the "full name" filed for the user's account, using the Kerio administrator program.

If the user is using an e-mail client -- Thunderbird, Outlook, Eudora, etc. -- you will probably have to update her name and return address there as well.
