We've got 10 licenses, but have noticed that one host (domain controller) uses 2 licenses on 2 seperate IP addresses. Why is that?

Licenses are counted per IP address, not per user/device/etc.
So a users/device/etc. that has (and uses) multiple IP addresses will use up multiple licenses.

Thanks for the info - looks like our only option is to get additional licenses.

You can't change that. It's hard coded (and I believe it's several hours and not just 10-20 minutes).

I see this thread is very old, but specific to what I am doing. We just recently converted from an old release of Winroute 4.1.3 and as always, some things are better, some things are not. The licensing issue is frustrating as it is common for us to have multiple IP's per server (especially web server where we have multiple virtual web servers) so we underestimated licenses needed.

That is bad enough, but we also have a problem with VPN users that connect, use internet and so get counted as active host, then disconnect. Hours pass and yet the license is still showing on the "active user" even though it has long gone away.

Is there anything that can be done about this? Is there a way under administration to disconnect an active host?

I think I read somewhere that the upcoming KWF version 'Kerio Control' counts licenses per user, not per IP address. That might help you in your licensing shortage. You can look into the documentation of the upcoming version, perhaps that will work better for you.
