**scenario**

2 e-mail accounts (webmaster<_a.t_>domain.com and postmaster<_a.t_>domain.com) need to have messages forwarded to 2 other accounts (user1<_a.t_>domain.com and user2<_a.t_>domain.com)

****

I know that i could do this by setting up 2 users (webmaster and postmaster) then forwarding the mail to the accounts. My question is is there a way to do this w/o using 2 more user accounts, be it through aliases or groups, or whatever... Webmaster and Postmaster will not have their own mailboxes, thus i don't see why they would need to be their own user. (could be wrong on that last statement, though).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Simple - do it all the time...

On the user1's & user2's Mail Address tab, add the postmaster & webmaster addresses. (I suspect that they must be in the same domain.)

Adding email addresses under the User's account adds that identity into webmail, so that you can also send mail FROM postmaster and webmaster, whereas if you added them as aliases the mail would forward the same and not use up an account, but you don't have the option in webmail to send mail from those addresses.

We have aliases setup both ways in our environment, depending on the circumstances - For example, I do send email from my own address, as well as from "admin<_a.t_>domain", but I don't send email from postmaster, webmaster, root, abuse, or any of the other ones that come to me - so I don't want those in my list in webmail. They are all aliases, and "admin" is under my user account.

Hi,

I would recommened, you to adda alias, and for webmaster, use user1.at.domain.com as email address, and so..

This will solve.

Ok... the alias would work for postmaster as i am the only
one that needs to receive these e-mails...

however, is there a way to set up an alias to send to more than 1 user?

if so, please advise how as i am having troubles getting this right (other than the adding the e-mail account to the users as mentioned above...

Thanks again

Use a group to go to more than one email address - and just select the option to hide the group (or not list the group) in the public contact list when you are creating it.
