Version Outlook 2007
All installed fine, imported contacts and all was okay.
Left the user with it for an hour and now he gets this error and cannot in anyway get to his contacts (he can through webmail)

He did recently add a new contact which I have deleted via webmail but still cannot access the contacts. He can however access the shared contacts, it is only his own contacts folder.

Microsoft have an artick here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/228890 but it offers no immediate resolution and the article pre dates Outlook 2007.

Any suggestions?

Just installed the KOC on a Oulook 2003 PC and it works so it looks like it could be related to the KOC with Outlook 2007?

Did you try recreating his mail profile on the same machine? Have you attempted to rename the properties.fld file for the contacts folder on the server?

I managed to fix it by renaming all the *.fld files in contacts folder of the affected profile.

We had the same issue today on two public folders with calendar objects in. We also fixed it by stopping the mail server daemon, renaming index.fld to index.bad and starting the mailserver again. The reason the folder went corrupt is unknown, but the PST-files we imported through KOC were very large: several 2GB PSTs.

Public folder corruption is particularly a PITA, because we had to wait until everyone logged out before being able to fix it. The error kept coming back unless we waited until the server was deserted (i.e. no KOC connections).

We run 6.5.2, by the way, but an upgrade is somewhere in the pipeline for us.
