There seems to be a problem with attachments in 6.4.2 webmail. I've had complaints from one person that all attachments appear as unnamed binaries.

I think this is caused by a fussy e-mail client (virtual access) but Kerio does indeed seem to be at fault. Below is the attachment header generated by Outlook (Hotmail, Gmail & Apple Mail all generate the same thing).

Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-Type: application/msword;
name="PCfRE becomes NATRE.doc"
Content-Disposition: attachment;
filename="PCfRE becomes NATRE.doc"

What Kerio Webmail does is miss out the first name field, so it looks like this:

Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-Type: application/msword
Content-Disposition: attachment;
filename="PCfRE becomes NATRE.doc"

Most e-mail clients don't seem to mind, but some do.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

So you are sending a mail via Kerio Web Mail (do you use Full or Mini Web Mail?) and the recipient gets binary garbage. Have I understood this right?

I have never experienced this but I use Web Mail Mini most of the time.

Yes, sending mail via Kerio Webmail. Webmail mini doesn't seem to allow me to add attachements, the simplified webmail does, and that behaves in exactly the same way.

The recipient in question gets the e-mail with an unnamed binary attachment. If they rename it themselves they can open the file. It's the way Kerio is adding the filename to the attachment header that seems to be causing the problem.

Using Kerio with Outlook is fine, because in this case Outlook generates the e-mail content and Kerio just passes it through.

This guy is using an e-mail client called Virtual Access that's pretty old and hasn't had any developer input in about six years. I'm fairly confident that this isn't a widespread problem, hence why others haven't experienced it.

However Kerio Webmail isn't including the filename of the attachment after the content type, something every other e-mail client I've tested does.
