The Bayes system on my server shut down a couple of days ago - now, in the error log, I get the message:

"11/Jan/2008 17:43:53] SpamPlugin.cpp: Spam Server error(0): Perl_die: bayes: sdbm store returned -1, errno 2, key "
RUNNINGEXPIRE" at /usr/local/kerio/mailserver/plugins/spamassassin/site/lib/Ma il/SpamAssassin/BayesStore/DBM.pm line 1011.
"

And now, of course, spam training no longer works (SpamAssassin now reports that is in Training mode with 0 ham and 0 spam) and a lot of it is once again making it to our inboxes. Any clues as to what I need to do?

The Bayes database is corrupted. This usually happens when moving the database between different platforms or operating systems.

The solution is to remove all "bayes_*" files in the store/spamassassin directory.

Sorry it took me so long to reply - but that did, in fact, take care of it. Thanks!

Can the removal of these files be done without shutting down the kerio process?
Note that in my scenario I was moving from Mac OS X 10.4.11 to 10.5.2 on another server. Looks like that counts as a move between "operating systems!" Who would have thought? Smile

Cheers,
Lyle

Just as a matter of interest - when you went from 10.4 to 10.5 - did you change from a PowerPC to Intel machine? I hit an issue with the endian-ness of the SpamAssassin database migrating from a 10.4 to 10.5 machine.

Cheers
David
