Before I start, I know that editing spamassassin rule files is unsupported and that is exactly why I am asking my question here rather than technical support.

I have read many other posts explaining that simply editing the .cf files in /opt/kerio/mailserver/spamassassin/rules/ (and restarting the server) is the correct method to change how spamassassin handles its checking. I have been trying for some time to get this to work with no success.

A basic test which fails is the following;
- Edit 20_phrases.cf
- Towards the top of the file, add;
body GOOGLE_FWD                 /google/i
describe GOOGLE_FWD Match 'google' in body

- Edit 50_scores.cf
- Towards the top of the file add (used low score just to prove hits for now);
score GOOGLE_FWD 0.01 0.01 0.01

- Restart KMS

- Send mail from an external server with the text 'google' in the body and inspect the message header
- X-Spam has no score added for GOOGLE_FWD

I have tried other similar rules as well as more complex ones and nothing appears to have an effect on SpamAssassin, am I doing something wrong?

I have KMS 6.3.0.

Thanks,
Tom.

Do you re-start KMS everytime after rules changes?
You have to in order to let spamserver.exe to read changes in rules files.
I've also asked to technical support if i could just restart spamserver.exe but they answer no.
I hope it helped you.

Thanks for your suggestion. I can confirm I am performing a full reset of KMS after making changes.

Edit: I just realised I have been editing the wrong files, sorry for wasting your time, this thread can be ignored.

Thanks,
Tom.
