Can anyone comment on plans from Apple, Kerio or others to provide wireless calendar sync/push for the iPhone? Rumor has it the Apple is hiring ex-Exchange QA engineers so I would assume Exchange support might be coming... what about Kerio?

Well, if Apple supports caldav OTA syncing I'm willing to bet it will be easy to implement server-side for Kerio.

Reverse-engineering Activesync is a bear to tackle, I can't imagine Apple doing that. I also cannot imagine them licensing ActiveSync either.

I would put my money on OTA caldav syncing for calendaring. Too bad there's nothing with addressbook.

Nobody in the know will say anything, so we can all just put forth our best guesses.

Hmmm... interesting. Why no support for contacts? Is there not an open standard for that type of data exchange?

Bingo. Apple's server technology utilizes mostly Open-Source software. SMB, caldav, cyrus, postfix, etc.

The good news is that keeps their server software so cheap. The bad news is that if something breaks it's a b***h to fix sometimes.

The lack of addressbook syncing is rather humorous as Apple is touting Leopard Server as a collaborative environment. I've talked many clients out of Leopard Server as their answer to groupware and steered them towards KMS.

It turns out Apple DID license activesync and in Steve Job's demo, the push from Exchange worked flawlessly. I really hope this works for Kerio. So far I really love our Kerio server. It would be great to have the same push ability for contacts, calendar, and email that exchange will have for the iPhone, and also the same ability to wipe an iPhone remotely that the Exchange connectivity will offer.

The only gotcha I can see is that the screenshot of the Activesync setup I don't see anything pertaining to tasks.
