So I tried out the new beta 2.0 software for the iPhone. Was able to login to kerio but then was unable to sync anything

Got the following error in my log:

[03/Apr/2008 23:43:38] ASyncRequest.cpp: ActiveSyncRequest::ParseQueryString: Request: /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync?User=xxxxxx<_a.t_>xxxxx&DeviceId=Appl7RXXXXXXXX&DeviceType=iPhone - Unable to find parameter

Ok. Got a further error...

[04/Apr/2008 00:02:49] ActiveSyncRequest::Execute: Access denied for device Appl7R7XXXXXX (user: XXXXX). The device 'iPhone' isn't supported in this version

It seems that the iPhone just needs to be added to the list of supported devices in one of the config files

I'm pretty sure the new iPhone firmwares are under NDA. Therefore we cannot post any comment on this.

How about something safe like, "Kerio has the beta SDK and intends to support iPhone 2.x Exchange mode"?

Or not, if that's the case.

The is the option

<AllowUnsupportedDevices>0 ...

in the ActiveSync section of the file mailserver.cfg

But setting the value to "1" leads me to the same error message. Maybe there is a good starting point to get the iPhone working with Kerio.

Doesn't Apple seem somewhat Microsoft like in that they don't follow a specification exactly... Why doesn't the iPhone 2.0 Exchange interface work 100% out of the box? Why does it take a change on the server side to work? Sad.

Forget about my first post.

The <AllowUnsupportedDevices> option in the mailserver.cfg did the trick. I can connect to Kerio mailserver and i get the folders an "some" messages. I have to test it a bit more now ...

Ummm...it's beta software. Maybe it's not done yet?

Maybe Kerio blocks it somehow?

Who knows, let's wait until the final version is out. I know I'm going to get one ASAP.

That's because it's not officially out now.

Kerio MailServer's Exchange Activesync won't work with the iPhone 2.0 software until Kerio explicitly adds support for the iPhone 2.0 in a new version of Kerio MailServer.

This support probably will not be added to KMS until iPhone 2.0 is released to the public, because it would violate Apple's NDA. I assume Kerio is under the same NDA obligations as the rest of the iPhone developers.

It just plain won't work right now, just wait for June(-ish).
