As stated in http://forums.kerio.com/index.php?t=msg&th=13333&sta rt=0 I have major problems syncing my address book to KMS.

Client in this case was a MacBook Pro running 10.5.2.

So I exported all the contacts to a huge .vcf file. Then I connected Entourage 2008 to KMS (6.5.0 Patch 1 on an Xserve running 10.4.11) via an Exchange Account, opened my public folders and the contacts therein and drag & dropped the .vcf file into the contacts.

I had about 2000 contacts in that .vcf file - 186 made it into the contacts on the KMS, the rest of the contacts filled up the Entourage 2008 error log with "could not be copied to the Exchange server".

Does anyone have an idea what this is and how to resolve this issue? I haven't tried copying the .vcf to my local address book and then syncing that, I doubt it would make a difference, would it? Any suggestions?

My main concern is getting these ~4k contacts into my public folder, what would be the easiest and most reliable way?

Have you updated to SP1 for Office 2008?

I would also try to import them locally and then drag them to the server.

Hi,

yes, I updated to SP1. I also used a totally new identity without any other contacts or accounts.

I will try using the local address book first before adding the contacts to the public folder.

Thanks a lot so far, I'll post any new information.

Still, what would you recommend as the easiest way to import a batch of contacts to KMS if the sync connector for some reason won't work?

Look at the contact that comes after the last one that successfully imported. Is there anything odd about that contact?

Hey,

couldn't find any strange things in the contacts.

Also, when syncing with Entourage, this message pops up in the log:

[28/May/2008 13:07:45] erage_DAVRequest.cpp: The following error occured
while reading XML request body: PCDATA invalid Char value 11

Anyway, my coworker actually got the Sync Connector to work - after turning off SSL. If you use SSL, the Sync Connector often fails and is very slow.

So, we have - after days of testing, brainstorming and trying - succeeded in importing 3,500 contacts. Yay.

I get sick when I think that I still have to migrate more that 40 GB of email data into the new KMS - if it is anything like this, I seriously consider switching products... Support here in Germany from our distributor is less than marginal anyway...

For future reference,

we tried renaming the .vcf files to .eml and then put them into the respective folders, renaming the index to index.bad and resulted with this error message:

[28/May/2008 13:40:08] mail_folder.cpp: Restoring index in folder
~admin<_a.t_>localhost/Contacts. Flags and status information may be lost
[28/May/2008 13:40:08] mail_folder.cpp: Index in folder
~admin<_a.t_>localhost/Contacts/alle is corrupted (index.bad exists)
[28/May/2008 13:40:08] mail_folder.cpp: Restoring index in folder
~admin<_a.t_>localhost/Contacts/alle. Flags and status information may be lost
[28/May/2008 13:40:11] mail_folder.cpp: Index error in folder
~admin<_a.t_>localhost/Contacts/alle: Cannot parse contact message file
0000000a.eml

Those contacts seem to be regular .vcf files, just renamed to .eml with a small, KMS-generated hearer to them.

Did this ever work with anyone or is there another way to manually edit adress books?
