I think I have found the cause of most peoples problems with Address Book [AB} and LDAP lookups. Whilst the howto for setting AB is technically correct, it leaves out the configuration on the server that is sometimes required.

For the life of me I could not work out why I was getting no results returned from my LDAP searches. It wasn't until I set the appropriate permissions on the public contact list that results started being returned.

I logged into web mail as the admin user, I then right clicked on the Contacts list in my public folders and click Access Rights. Click Add and then select "All users from domain.com". By default this should be added as a reader. If you have any ACL's in there already, try removing them all and then adding them again.

Once I did this, Address Book started working.

Hope this helps some of you from pulling too much hair!
