I'm trying to set up a new Domain Controller on Windows 2008 and am trying to install the Active Directory extensions. The extensions install correctly, but I am only able to see the added fields from the ADSI edit MMC. Is there something I am missing to get the tab to appear in the Users and Computers panel, or is this related to the way MS has deployed AD and LDAP? Any input is appreciated.

If it works like Windows 2003, you won't see a tab in Active Directory Users and Computers unless the user has a KMS account already. Right-click a user and choose Kerio Mailserver Tasks. That'll bring up a wizard to add a mailbox. Once the mailbox is created, you'll see a Kerio tab on their AD account.

I've gotten a little farther along with my testing. So far I have determined that the AD extensions will not work properly. The create mailbox wizard is not available under tasks and if you script/use ADSI edit to create the mailbox, the Kerio tab will not come available. In addition, I get an LDAP error whenever the administration console loads (Error: LDAP operation failed. Check that you have installed Directory Extensions properly). But oddly enough, KMS is able to read the settings from AD to populate users and validate passwords against AD. So it looks like I will have to wait until Server 2008 is better supported before I update.

Can anyone else confirm this?

I'm about to migrate my Novell NSD network over to Microsoft AD and am probably going for MS Server 2008. Not being able to integrate with KMS would be not so nice.
