Hello

On KMS 6.5.2 Users have an IMAP-Email-Account, works fine.

Now they want to have the Exchance-Features, using Entourage 2008.

I figured out, I have to set up an Exchange-Account on the client.

So how do I move all the Folders and Sub-Folders plus the Calender to that new Account?

KMS 6.5.2 is running on a Mac-Server 10.4.11

THX and sorry for my english (no native)

Michael

why do you want to move anything?
As you say you use IMAP Accounts so everything is stored on the serverside..
If you change the accounts to exchange mode nothing will change concerning mail, folders, contacts or calender.
You just continue to use them in another account mode

<_a.t_>Oliver

thx for quick respond.

I see no way to chance the type (mode) of an account in Entourage.
I found that how-to:
http://www.entourage.mvps.org/exchange/exchangeatwork.html

As you say, all folders are stored serverside, so all that should visible in the Exchance-Account?
Can you proff that?

regards

I guess you should only have one account pointing to the same mailbox in Entourage.
If you still have your IMAP Account in Entourage AND your Exchange account, things might not work well.. You should erase the IMAP account.
Be careful that there might be personal calendars, notes, contacts etc that are not on the server but are stored locally. They could be erased too if the IMAP account is deleted. We ask our users not to store anything on a local base to avoid such.
If everything is in the IMAP hierarchy you are safe.

You guess right, only one IMAP-Account in Entourage. And yes, the calender and notes are stored locally.
Is it possible to move this infos (calender, contacts, notes) to the new created Exchange-Account?

And then, of cource, delete the IMAP-Account.

have not done it on my own, as we setup our accounts initially as exchange accounts.
but to avoid lost of data you should export all data, either by drag and drop to the desktop or by using the export feature. I would prefer drag and drop.
Then delete the imap mailbox, create the exchange mailbox and reimport the data to server based calander, adressbooks and mailboxes.
In my opinion you should never allow your users to store stuff locally. As you see this causes a lot of work if you migrate accounts and you risk the loss of data if your local mailboxes crash...
Test this before you try this on real data Wink

<_a.t_>oliver

thx Smile

I got this customer when all the account-setting was done.
Now I have to clean up the mess, what the previous it-support left over.
Of cource I do nothing without a working backup, and will test it in a Testing-Environment:-)
BTW: I found during my search this apple-script, I will test it out and report.

So, have a nice evening and thx again

Cheers
