Hi Guys:

I was working just fine, until i needed to send a email to someone and my email never get to them. I search on the mail logs and i founded on the log that all my emails to this address had delivery status "result: relayed". It happend with some others emails adresses but not all of them.

What that means and how can I fixed ? Crying or Very Sad

Also i founded out on my server logs, i mean on the Queue message, that there is many email without any info on field FROM.

How can i found out from which PC these emails are comming.(IP number, PC name or user) I have the impression that someone break in. Sad

Thanks in advance.

Why do you want to 'fix' it? There is nothing wrong.
"Relayed" means that the message for this recipient has been sent (relayed) to another server. This is perfectly ok.

Have the recipient check their junk mail folder, or check with their mail admin about not getting mail. If the mail shows as relayed, it is getting delivered to the appropriate server. If the user isn't getting the mail, it's getting dropped or quarantined some time after the delivery.

Hi...My problem is that almost all mails which adress are external got the delivered: relayed status..

Some of them are on junk email folder, but my question is way, if everything were wroking just fine...

We recently send bulk mails 20,000...that may affect the server or something..if it does waht can i do?

That may get you on a spam blacklist, yes. So perhaps that's why other mail servers aren't delivering your messages any more to the final recipients?

Go to the following site and enter your mail server's name:

http://www.iptools.com/dnstools.php?tool=spam_db

This will check if your mail server is on any spam block list.

Anything listed in red might need your attention.

Hello to All,
I have some question:

Why letters come to the Spam folder if the domain is not registered in Spam lists?

Best regards.

Are you serious? If you send 20,000 mails bulk on a regular basis, your SMTP skills could probably do with some ... polishing.

That being said, if the log says the mail was accepted by the receiving server (2.0.0), there's not much you can do, short of contacting the admin on the other side and have him/her trace it in their logs. I'm not sure how you would do that since KMS doesn't by default log the other side's inbound queue ID (the receiving party always answers with the queue id), but the timestamp should help you a bit.

Mails with an emtpy FROM field (just "<>") is a bounce (or Non-delivery report, NDR). This is how it's supposed to be. Bounces can be both sent (i.e. generated bu you) and received.

The log snippets you posted shows both received and sent mails, and before you scream "intrusion", try to analyze a single delivery and sending to see what is being logged. Then check the mail headers and take note of what's in the "Received:" lines. They will show you where the mail comes from and lots more.

This is everyday stuff for mail admins. At least it should be. The internet is IMHO not a playground for unexperienced admins, but all those who insists it is, should be aware of the potential consequenses.
