Hi All,

Wondering if subscribing to an ICS calendar file within Kerio is possible. Obviously, one can head over to http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/calendars/ (among many other places) and subscribe to a read-only shared calendar in iCal or Thunderbird and (I think Outlook 2007 now). Is is possible to do this within, for example, Kerio's web interface so that one could theoretically take their subscriptions with them (understanding it would still be read only)? It would be even more lovely if this would enable one to sync a subscribed calendar to an iPhone. Currently, the only way I'm aware of doing this is using a product called BusySync by BusyMac, which works well, but it sure would be nice if this could be done within Kerio.

For what it's worth, Google calendar allows ics subscriptions (which is a crux of how BusySync users can make ics subscriptions sync to their iphones) and I think Zimbra does as well.

Cheers,
Stephen

Hi HoosierMac,

Thanks for that info, but what I'd like to be able to do is subscribe to an ics file within Kerio rather than iCal. I love iCal, but if I were able to subscribe within Kerio, I could *theoretically* then sync that subscription using ActiveSync to the iPhone. (I have some clients who subscribe to ics files like holidays or iwantsandy (http://www.iwantsandy.com/) who would like to have those subscriptions on their iPhones as well.)

Really, this stems from the fact that the iPhone (among other shortcomings) can't display ics subscriptions. I would like to use Kerio as an intermediary to get ics subscriptions on the iPhone. It's probably not possible since the BusySync solution is really a bit of hack, but it does work. Just wondering if Kerio could serve the same purpose....

Cheers,
Stephen

BionicCat,

We need to have lunch someday, I'm in Broad Ripple all the time.

Anyways, I think I understand what you want now. You want KMS to subscribe to the .ics file and then have it appear on the iPhone?

The problem is with the limitations of the Activesync protocol itself. It can only sync the "Calendar" inside your personal folder. If you rename the "Calendar" then Activesync won't see it and it won't get to the iPhone. Having more calendars within the personal space won't get them onto the phone either.

I'll drop you a call early next week and we should meet up and discuss Kerio and business in general.

I wanted to follow up on this. I have a similar need but it is really an Entourage problem, not a Kerio problem. I have Entourage users, myself included, that need to subscribe to Google calendars. Works great in iCal, but we are all on Entourage. I'm looking for a solution to allow those Google Calendars to show up in Entourage. The Google Cal events change frequently so importing the .ics does not work since the changes never show up.

It does not seem that there is a way to use Kerio to subscribe to those calendars... Might this be a feature request? It would be really nice to have the server subscribe and manage that calendar sync for me - thus putting it in Entourage for me.

Are there 3rd party apps out there that will allow Entourage to "subscribe" to a changing web based calendar??
