Does anybody use an alternative to the KMS archiving? We are heavy into archiving to reduce user stores but find it impossible to allow users to dig up old mail. We've looked at such solutions as Barracuda but don't want to invest that much right now.

We would like the ability to archive all incoming and outgoing with the ability to perform full text searches and allow individual users to look up old mail for their accounts.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We use an ArcMail Defender appliance. It binds with AD so users can log in and restore their own email, with the same AD user and password that kerio uses. I demoed Barracuda as well before we bought. At the time the arcmail was way ahead..

We actually just bought a new bigger one, as our retention policy changed and the first one was not big enough. So i don't see why we need the older one anymore. PM me if your interested.

So you could use wodcarik's solution for a few months or you could buy an appliance that would last years. All for the same amount of money. Sounds like a great deal.

Yes you should archive to hardware. Good luck. Laughing

Our company has a combination of Mac and Windows systems, using Outlook and Entourage. MailStore looked very interesting...until I saw it was for Windows only. ArcMail Defender looks very interesting, but also very expensive. Has anyone had any experience using Google Message Discovery?

Why not use rsync to another machine? That's free.

Open Text, our Imaging system provider, has this product which does e-mail ediscovery;

We like them for other things. Haven't tested this module yet.

If you want "free" you can look at things like this;

It's the OSE edition, EE would be paid for.
