We have a mac running Leopard Server 10.5.6.
Kerio is installed and patched to 6.6.1.

I have a shell script that is run by launchd to initiate an rsync remote backup of kerio mail files and other such files. It then sends an email to me to confirm it's completion with the log file for rsync.

I have this system working perfectly on another server that does not have kerio installed.

On this machine the backup runs and finishes without errors but no email is sent.

I am presuming that when Kerio is installed the default copy of sendmail is disabled and Kerio uses it's own. If this is the case how can I tell the script to use kerio's which I have located to be at the following:-

/usr/local/kerio/mailserver/sendmail

Any help would be gratefully received.

Regards
Harvey

Hi,

it's not possible to use use two competing version of sendmail on one system, without any modification. But theres no need to modify anything if you decide to use KMS sendmail. Just rename the default one in /usr/sbin/sendmail to sendmail_old by using the mv in terminal and create a symlink in /usr/sbin to connect to /usr/local/kerio/mailserver/sendmail

That's all.

The mail(1) program also works on KMS om Linux. If you have a logfile, it's easily sent from a script like this:

mail -s "message subject" recipient<_a.t_>example.com < logfile.txt

"logfile.txt" becomes the message body. Note that mail can't send attachments, unless you encode files into the message body beforehand.

That worked great. One minor thing I noticed was that the email didn't have a sender! Very strange. On non kerio machines it comes from postmaster.

Easily ignored tho.

Thanks very much
