Currently we are using one mailserver to host two domains. What I need to do is split the two. I plan to install the last Kerio MailServer on a new server, unlicensed until after the migration, then I need to get one domains users (including mailboxes) to this new server.

Is it possible for me to go through the motions of copying a mailserver to a different server then simply re-licensing the other Kerio on the new server? This would be much simpler.

The new mailserver will have a license for less users but the amount of existing users will not exceed that amount.

Thanks,

Tim

I thought I would follow up on my own topic;

Using the following steps, everything seems to be working fine so far.

1. Installed a new copy of Kerio MailServer but did not start the mail server.

2. Copied over the "store" folder to the new mail server installation.

3. Copied the domain users I needed over to the new users.cfg

4. Deleted the properties.fld and the index.fld (per a thread from bigmountain though I'm not sure if that was necessary or not for my situation.

5. Started the new mail server and went into Administration. Had to add the "localhost" domain to the mailserver.cfg because after starting the new mail server and running the administration module, "localhost" didn't exist.

The new mail server is not yet licensed but it will be. Still, everyone's mailboxes still seem to be intact and everything appears to be functioning normally.

Perhaps all of that is a "no brainer" but my main questions was whather or not Kerio MailServer was going to balk when I copied mailboxes over to an unlicensed server. Hopefully, after licensing, everything will continue to work.

Can anyone think of something I've missed?

Tim
