With version 6.6 of Kerio, I configured my domain to automatically remove junk e-mail after 7 days, and deleted items after 30 days.

In the log, I see messages being removed by the "cleanout agent". This has been going on for a few weeks.

I did some housekeeping last week, deleting messages. When I look at my "Deleted Items" folder, I see them there -- some messages dated 2 years ago. I see log entries for the cleanout agent processing my Deleted Items folder, but there's still things there that should be gone.

How does the cleanout agent decide what (and when) to delete?

I believe it uses the modified date. If you have the cleanout set for 30 days, and delete a message 1 year old, with the modified date it would be removed from Deleted Items 30 days after you delete the item, not immediately because it's dated over 30 days ago. I haven't verified that, but that's how I understand it to work.

I don't believe there's a way to see the modified date in webmail, but if you have Outlook with KOC or KOFF, you can add the modified column to the message list.
