Hi everybody,

I have a question about my KMS. Currently I have 4 External hosted servers.
Here is my configuration

External -- Internal --- Internal Mailboxes
helo<_a.t_>xyz.com --xyz.com---Helo<_a.t_>xyz.com
helo<_a.t_>yes.com--yes.com---Helo<_a.t_>yes.com
etc
etc

Why doesn't KMS support multiple SMTP servers. I can only relay to one external hosted server. Meaning I cannot send all my emails. Sometimes it doesn't send them. I know there is an option Deliver directly to MX record, but that requires that your Ip adress has to registered to an MX record. If not some of the mail are discarded when you send them, because they see it as spam. Are there any solutions or Other options for this.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Cliff

Sure you can. In this case, you're using what's called a "relay server". To SMTP, "relay" means accept and send mail for another domain. Simply configure the relay server to allow relaying from your Kerio host (either by IP address, sending domain, or SMTP authentication, although by IP address would be best)

I know i can relay, but it sends all the mails via that relay server if I am not wrong. If possible could you give me an example with an screenshot.

Thanks in advance

Unless there is some obscure setting i'm not aware of, the SMTP relay is a global setting not configurable on a per domain base.

It would be nice if kerio worked on that. If that is is fixed I would be a happy user

I'm not sure I understand the logic of "sometimes i want to relay, and sometimes I don't"

If I understand Cliff right, he hosts 4 domains on one KMS. For outgoing mail, he wants to relay to a different server for each domain.

What you would need are relay server settings per domain and Kerio doesn't provide that. What you could do is:

Put a second KMS server that is only used for relaying. On this server, create the four domains and for each domain set the forwarding tab to

"If recipient was not found in this domain, forward message to another host". Put the host name of your external server for that domain. Do that for each of the 4 domains.

I don't understand the point of this either. The OP says:

Sounds to me like if the chosen relay server won't accept all his mail for delivery, then its either misconfigured or not actually a relay server. Unless I'm misunderstanding something, choosing an appropriate relay server would seem to be both the simple and correct solution to this issue.
