I have 8000 messages in my message queue that I need to get rid of.

I can't seem to get rid of them when I press remove messages --> all. It says the messages are "marked" for deletion but after pressing refresh (which takes ages) they are all still there. Any hints as to how to actually get them to delete.

Note I have all the services turned off while I resolve this problems could that be the issue, what actually triggers them from being “marked to be deleted” and actually being gone?

Mail server is down until I can get this resolved, thanks in advance.

Try to delete the content of the queue directory (including subdirectories) on the file system. That worked for me.
