I've got two Kerio servers that I admin and occassionally I'll have people outside the office being blocked with a Directory Harvest attack message when they enter an address of a deleted account (producing an "unknown user" error). Of course, the message sits in their Outbox and keeps trying to be sent and eventually they get hit with the error.

They are using SMTP Auth for sending, so it there a way to have Kerio just skip over the unknown recipient limit for authenticated connections?

It should not stay in the Outbox as "User not found" is a permanent error and the client should not try again. Only errors that are temporary, like "Server busy", should be tried again.
