Hi,

Our phone system (Nortel BCM450) has the ability to forward voicemails to email accounts as attachments. We are trying to set it up so the message deletes from the BCM after it is received in email. So, the BCM sends an email with a DSN request and the server replies, but with nothing in the FROM field, there's no way for the voicemail system to know where the reply is coming from. Hope that makes some sort of sense; below is a snippet from our mail log:

[23/Jun/2009 08:55:10] Recv: Queue-ID: 4a40d0ae-0000156b, Service: SMTP, From: <bcm450<_a.t_>kingarch.com>, To: <jcooper<_a.t_>kingarch.com>, Size: 76624, Sender-Host: 10.10.2.2, User: bcm450<_a.t_>kingarch.com
[23/Jun/2009 08:55:11] Recv: Queue-ID: 4a40d0af-0000156c, Service: DSN, From: <>, To: <bcm450<_a.t_>kingarch.com>, Size: 2094, Report: success
[23/Jun/2009 08:55:11] Sent: Queue-ID: 4a40d0ae-0000156b, Recipient: <jcooper<_a.t_>kingarch.com>, Result: delivered, Status: 2.1.5
[23/Jun/2009 08:55:13] Sent: Queue-ID: 4a40d0af-0000156c, Recipient: <bcm450<_a.t_>kingarch.com>, Result: delivered, Status: 2.0.0

Note the empy FROM field in the Service: DSN line.

I read a post where DSN responses have an empty FROM field to prevent loop-backs or something. Is there a way to override this?
We're running KMS 6.7.

Thanks!

Jeff

There is no way how to override that. DSN reports need to have empty sender address.
But since the DSN report contains headers of the original email, you can parse it and find the original recipient address.

I'll look into it. Thanks so much.
