Hello all. We are in the progress of converting all the users on a Windows 2003 terminal server from KOC to KOFF. Have anyone succeeded in doing this without giving every user admin rights?

The sore point is the "Outlook Profile Conversion Utility" which users are supposed to run after KOFF is installed, but according to support it has to be done with admin rights. I will not give the users admin rights, obviously, no matter how short a time.

This was solved by using Kerio's profilecreator.exe. This exe is included with KOFF and does not need any special rights to convert the profile from KOC to KOFF. The solution is actually outlined in the knowledge base with pseudo code.

The user will need to supply the account password on the first startup after conversion.

Here's the kixtart subroutine we use to convert the profiles. When we run this subroutine based on group membership, we can control how many initial syncs happen simultaneously:

Convert Outlook profile from KOC to KOFF
$profcbin="C:\Program Files\Kerio\Outlook Connector (Offline Edition)\ProfileCreator.exe"
$profcargs=" /profile=Outlook-KOFF / /user=<_a.t_>USERID<_a.t_> /offline"

/* Is the profile already converted? */
IF EXIST("$flagfile")

?"Konverterer mailprofil ..."
SHELL "$profcbin $profcargs"
IF <_a.t_>ERROR=0
/* Write a file flagging the profile conversion as done */
	IF Open(3,"$flagfile",5)=0
		$ret=WriteLine(3,<_a.t_>USERID + " " + <_a.t_>DATE + " " + <_a.t_>TIME + <_a.t_>CRLF)
		? "Failed to open flag file, error code : [" + <_a.t_>ERROR + "]"
