I have a user who needs to occasionally send email from his GMail account as though it is coming from his company account. GMail allows you to choose a different SMTP server to send email with. I have Authenticated SMTP turned on in KMS, and the settings set correctly in Gmail. However, when trying to establish the SMTP connection, Gmail says the KMS SMTP server is taking too long to respond. When I look at the various server logs, I can't even find an entry showing any connection attempts. Anyone have any clues?

Have you tried to look at the debug log (with enabled SMTP Server debugging)?
I assume it could be related to SpamRepellent feature.

Also, does the Google use SMTP port 25 or SMTP Submission port 587?

I will try the debug log. How do I ensure SMTP server debugging is turned on?

Google allows you to choose from 25, 465, 587.
