Hi all

I need to use the regular expression feature of log highlighting, but the admin manual is not clear on how to do this (p.262).

I need to be able to implement a highlight condition which works for 'substringA' AND 'substringB', ie. the log is only highlighted if both substrings are present on the log entry.

I have read a bunch of sites on POSIX regular expressions and its not clear how this can be done. Can anyone help?

Many thanks
Toby Henderson

Incase its useful to anyone else, I got a response from Milan in partner support:

The regular expression you are looking for should look like following one:

(.+substringA.+substringB)|(.+substringB.+substringA)

For example, you want to highlight all log entries which contains strings "alpha" and "beta", the regular expression is:

(.+alpha.+beta)|(.+beta.+alpha)

Along the way, I also discovered that you can perform the 'OR' function by using '|', eg.

alpha|beta|gamma|delta

Cheers
Toby
