I've never noticed this before, folder deletion is an incredibly slow operation. So slow that mail.app on OSX takes the account offline because the server doesn't respond (I've watched this with connection doctor). I'm running mailserver 6.7 on Centos 5.3 in a very lightly loaded configuration. Simply deleting a few folders will bring my account to its knees. Has anyone else seen this problem?

I've only seen deleting a folder takes a little while (say max. 10 seconds) if there are many thousands of emails in it. Otherwise, no delays.

This is through the Webmail interface.

Hi,

I've seen deleting a folder of 8500 objects (or copying such large folders) take up to two minutes, but that was with a RAID 1 of two SATA drives that are being used on the file/mail server.

I guess it really is disk performance - KMS really does move all of the thousands of files from one section of the drive to another one if you delete them, so it takes a while.

I want to see how fast Kerio is on an 8 drive RAID 10 with 15k SAS drives, I bet it will be at least factor 10 in disk performance compared to a SATA RAID 1 Smile
