We upgraded from 6.6.1 to 6.7.1 tonight, but in the upgrade process all of our custom SpamAssassin rules disappeared from /opt/kerio/mailserver/plugins/spamassassin/rules. Our customisations done in local.cf is also gone, and I can't find anything besides the /store directory in the backup.

Anyone know if the custom files were somehow put aside, and where, or were they simply removed? A heads up in any case: only the message store seems to be backed up with the KMS inbuilt backup.

Kerio: how about making a note of this in the support or upgrade docs? I know we aren't supposed to fiddle around in there, but my SpamAssassin custom stuff have survived upgrades since SpamAssassin 2.x on other boxes, plus the files with custom rules weren't even owned by root.

We did the same upgrade on Windows Server 2003 and all the rules are still in the same directory

C:\Program Files\Kerio\MailServer\plugins\spamassassin\rules

With any upgrade, customized .cf files might be overwritten, so you should backup the customized files before the upgrade manually.

The same applies to cutomized .php files for webmail.

In addidtion to the built-in backup, I copy the whole C:\Program Files\Kerio to another server once a month.

The customisations were documented in our wiki and was back within half an hour, but the nuking of the "extra" files took me by surprise. Not even Windows Installer removes files it didn't put there itself Wink

But the disappearing custom files turned out to be the smallest of our problems after the upgrade Sad Details later ...
