I have KWF 5.1.10 installed on windows 2000 server (sp4), the clients go to internet just fine, but once or twice a day, the clients can't go to internet. When i try to ping a site (altavista.com, for example) from any client, i get the "unknown host" error, it means, they can't resolve dns names, but on the server the internet keeps working. To resolve this, i restart the KWF, and the clients go to internet. What can i do ?

Hello Andreyko, Edward,

when this happens check under Config\Routing Table if the first line namely your gateway is still there. I had this happening on a DHCP based ISP. When the DHCP Server is to busy this might happen. So write down what it says after a clean start and then check again when you are faced with this problem. Check for the line beginning with 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0 this is your Gateway line.

If you have something in between like an ADSL Router most likely it also has a routing table that might get lost. This happens on windows as well as under Linux/Unix.

I hope this gave you somewhere to look. I hope it resolves the problem. Let the group know.

Rene.
