I could use some advice on breaking some large mailboxes (~20k messages) down into smaller folders. The performance has gotten bad enough that it would take days to do this using an IMAP client or webmail. I would like to just shut down the mail server, and move the .eml files via unix commands to the subfolders. I've seen that index.fld can be renamed to index.bad causing the server to rebuild it. What about the other mail folder components, what's the best way to handle these?

deleted.fld
properties.fld
search.fld
status.fld
#assoc directory

Also, what fallout can I expect to happen to the metadata (flags, read/unread status, etc)?

Thanks!
