I am running Debian so i have downloaded the Debian update package. (.deb file)
My server doesn't use rpm to install / update packages so the support-desk's answer to use "rpm -U" doesn't work for me... rpm is used on Redhat and SuSe, not on Debian.

I am currently running 6.7.0 patch1 and i want to update to 6.7.1, therefore i have downloaded the file:

kerio-kms_6.7.1-7762-1_all.deb

Since kerio mailserver isn't in debian's repository i will have to update manually, my question is how... does the package update correctly when i issue the command: dpkg -i kerio-kms_6.7.1-7762-1_all.deb or will it overwrite my configuration?

the filename is irrelelvant as the actual package name is stored within the file, as with the version information

therefore issuing the command will just update your server and all you will have to do is just make sure the mailserver is running again after install and your configuration will remain intact
