Outlook 2007 was not able to be set up as a straight IMAP account. nor was setting it up as an Exchange client working. both said they could not connect to the server. Exchange works fine on this network on an iPhone and IMAP works fine from other machines.

so i decided to use the KOC and auto-config file as mentioned in webmail.

at no point did i see mention it would be deleting ANY and ALL preexisting accounts set-up in Outlook.

why would this even be a default option?! let along one without warning?! absolutely ridiculous.

I doubt the KOC auto-config tool is deleting any account. Check your Outlook profiles. KOC tool does create new profile for Outlook. Your old accounts are probably still in the other Outlook profiles.

thanks. i will check on that tomorrow.

i didn't realize Outlook was able to be set-up that way. and i was never given a prompt on starting it up after running KOC. but see now where such a selection can be made.

that was it. any way the KOC auto-config deal can set the option of forcing the prompt to select a profile?

seems like that would be the more user friendly default setting. especially for people that haven't had any need or desire to even use any form of Outlook since like 1998.

it is all good now though.
