Suddenly since yesterday (when it worked), we're now getting an 'Authentication Failure' message when trying to log on with Admin to the Kerio console.

OS: Mac OS X 10.5.7
Kerio Mailserver: 6.6.2

No new updates have gone on overnight and we don't believe any has changed the password. Just incase though, I have run through the resetting password instructions on the Kerio site

The users.cfg file now shows the password as NUL: and the MailServer service was stopped as I changed the config file, then restarted. Trying to log on now with the admin details and no password still gives Authentication Failure.

Has anyone any suggestions?

You didn't change the default domain? Try to login as admin<_a.t_>domain.com instead of just admin.

Hi, thanks for the response. Should have said I did see that step somewhere and tried it. Domain isn't changed, shows correct in the users.cfg file but I've tried that anyway and it still says Auth failed.

Nothing else seems to be wrong with the server, people are still getting mail, we can still log on to the webmail and mail systems as normal users, just seems to be something has gone on the admin account.

Hi, yes, tried login into webmail with both admin and admin at domain.com with both original password and a blank password, login failure each time.

Have you checked all the Kerio logs in the log directory? Especially the debug log and the warning log could be interesting.

Also post the whole <listitem> for the admin user here. Maybe you have a small syntax error in there.

Looks like the terminal commands in the documentation are incorrect for 10.5.8 re. restarting services. Reboot of the server has resolved the issue and reset it to null password.
