Hello,

I need to reinstall our server software from the ground up. We're on 10.5.

We have a xserve with 1 drive dedicated to the Kerio Mail Store and an external drive for the backup.

I also need to reformat all the drives (except the external backups)

I will out outline the process for Kerio below. Please let me know if this will work.

1. Stop Kerio Services
2. Make a fresh backup to the external drive (Backup Now)
3. Stop Kerio
4. Reinstall Mac OSX / Reformat Drives (using same Names)
5. Setup DNS on Mac OX Server
6. Fresh install of Kerio.
7. Change store drive location to previous but newly formatted drive (same drive name)
8. Stop Kerio
9. Perform KMSRECOVER from external drive.
10. Restart Kerio.

I've read the knowledge base article on how to move to another computer but this case is somewhat different.

Also, isn't using the backup and restore feature easier?

Is there anything on the local installation I will need to copy?

Thanks,

Nigel

It seems I may need to copy over usr.cfg mailserver.cfg and licence.key into the fresh copy before I run a backup? Do I install A fresh Kerio, replace the above items. Then do a recover?

Also, when I run a manual back up it puts a "c" in front of the backup file names. Usually there is an "f" for Full and an "i" for incremental. Is this something to be worried about. Will the recover work with the "c"

Migrate the entire kerio folder to another drive, reinstall KMS, move the folder back.

Thanks HoosierMac,

I plan on copying two things:

1. the local install of kerio at usr/local/kerio
2. the kerio store directory at /Volumes/KerioData

I'll also a fresh full back up.

I see you recommend using rsync to move kerio data and files. I have not used this before. Would you care to give me an example.

Would something like this work?

rsync -r -a -v --delete usr/local/kerio /Volumes/tempbackupdisc/
