hello all,
i have put a .htaccess file with this code:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mydomain.com/$1
in /usr/local/kerio/mailserver/web/webmail
i host our website both internally and externally and when the users on the LAN go to http://mydomain.com they go to kerio mail login page as oppose to www.mydomain.com
my kerio mail server is also DNS and OD master
i do have an CNAME www to point to webserver.mydomain.com which is another machine.
my hostname is set as mail.mydomain.com and so is my MX record both external DNS and internal DNS.
i was wondering if i am missing something that may cause me some problems down the road?
any help and ideas appreciated.
thanks
martin

.htaccess is Apache configuration file. KMS is using own fine-tuned webserver and is not intended for such configuration changes.

i found out this morning when users could not authenticate as i forgot to restart kerio's http and https after disabling the .htaccess. i put it originally and then i realized i should ask first. after i restarted http services this morning - all went back to normal.
so is there a way to do what i am trying to do? or is it not advisable to do that?
basically i need when users type http://mydomain.com to go to http://www.mydomain.com [192.168.0.9] and only access webmail from http:/mail.mydomain.com or the alias hthp:/webmail.mydomain.com [both at 192.168.0.4]
thanks
martin
