hello all,
i have been reading quite for some time on rsyncing the store directory and i get a mix feeling about it. i never saw a clear answer of YES it is safe or NO it is not.
we are running 6.7.3 on a OS X 10.5.8 - G5 2.3 xserve with 6GB RAM
i have 2 mirrored 400GB drives with OS and mail store. 3rd drive is 500 GB and used for kms' backup [and keep 4 complete backups] and also that is where my archive directory is.
the 3rd backup drive is also being rsynced nightly to another Leopard backup server [not kerio].
as our store grows [we are at 125GB] i realize that it is overkill to sync the full backups weekly.
is it safe to rsync mailserver.cfg, users.cfg, and the Store folder [/usr/local/kerio/mailserver/store
on os x].
even though my full backup run late sunday night and even though taking a long time i am more worried about possible disaster recovery. i can only guess how long will it take to restore all those 2GB zipped files?
my idea is to sync to a firewire clone drive or sparse image of the mail server and just restore the latest LDAP backup to it if needed.
any help and ideas are appreciated.
thanks
martin
